Make a cute Garland using Paper Towel or Toilet Paper Rolls.  You can use as a swag to decorate your mantel or windows, or make a lot of them and hang them like one of those bead curtains.  These are great to decorate for a  Party!

Supplies Needed to Make a Paper Towel Roll Garland:

  • Empty Paper Towel Roll or Toilet Paper Roll
  • Pom Poms or Beads
  • Paint
  • Scissors
  • Thread or Fine Fishing Line
  • Thick Needle, like the ones used for Embroidery (they aren't sharp on the ends so they are better for kids)

Directions to make a Paper Towel Roll Garland:

  • Paint the outside of the Paper Towel Roll, let dry (One Tip: you might want to mix a little Craft Varnish in with your paint to give your Paper Towel Roll a shiny look)
  • Flatten the Paper Towel Roll and cut into thin circles, about 3/4 inch thick
  • String your first Paper Towel Ring on your string and tie it onto the end of your thread or fishing line. (Note:  You might need to use a hard surface to push the needle through, we used our fishing line spool)
  • Thread on a Pom Pom or Bead, continue this pattern until it's as long as you want

  • Reshape the Paper Towel Rings into circles because they probably got a little flattened
  • After you have the Paper Towel Rings and pom pom spaced out how you want them, then you can tie the other end of fishing line to your last Ring .  Now it's ready to hang.
